A good alternative to something like this is the Tromadance festival. Troma's provided amazing opportunities to up-and-coming/DIY filmmakers over the years. Submission is free, entry to the festival is free...it's certainly an event aware that its attendees are probably busy spending their money making movies.

This year's is April 22-23 at the Showroom Theater in New Jersey...check it out, it's a great place for independent filmmakers.

Re: Reading: “…GFEM link funders…

cool..

Re: Documentary Filmmaking Tutorials from ‘FourDocs’

thanks for the great post:)

Re: Create an Animated Film with Moviestorm (Free Software)

Oh I have been using this Moviestorm almost a year and I am very pleased with it.
I just had a breakthrough that I thought might save some folks some money. I am shooting a bootcamp on top of a mountain and I didn't yet have a windscreen for my shotgun mic. I was going to buy one then I thought that a golf club protector would be a good idea. I went to the thrift store and bought one for 97cents and it works fantastic.
I chose one with a sleve on the outside (sort of like a tube sock attachment) and I put it over the existing microphone foam and it is seriously awesome at reducing the wind noise. I was just about to spend 100 bucks. Hope this helps.

Re: Watching (clip): “DIY Dinner N…

You can watch the three part video here too:
VIPs Talk the Future of Filmmaking: Watch Now (DIY Dinner NY)
http://www.indiegogo.com/blog/...

Re: DETAILS Mag & NEHST Studios Want Your Film Pitch

Wonderful idea to collaborate other people's works for them to share some brilliant ideas into film...
It's an opportunity for those aspiring film makers..

Re: Filmmaking Tricks – Using Your Tripod for Crane-Like Shots

Excellent job,very nice looking shots.
